Professional Indifference
His cancer hurts him like medieval torture.
The nice nurses chat a few meters away about a show on TV.
My friend screams out in pain.
The nice nurses are like nice waiting staff "how can I help you?".
They talk to a man on the invisible rack like that.
The invisible torturer turns the wheel.
My friend screams out in agony.
The nice nurses calmly serve the guest and see what they can do.
They have grown used to suffering because it is not theirs.
It doesn't mean that they are bad people.
They are just people.
All people can grow used to things outside themselves.
I wonder what nurses suffering from end stage pancreatic cancer think about television shows.
